VNUS Closure for varicose veins

VNUS radiofrequency generator and catheters

The VNUS Closure method has revolutionised the treatment of varicose veins.  Conventional stripping operations are no longer used.  Varicose veins can now be treated on a walk-in-walk-out basis with prompt return to normal activity.  The first generation of VNUS Closure devices was rather slow in operation which limited use to general anaesthetic operations.  The latest equipment (VNUS Closure-fast) is very quick and the procedure is easily performed under local anaesthetic.

The VNUS catheter is inserted into the vein

The catheter tip uses radiofrequency energy to heat the vein wall

As the catheter is withdrawn the vein wall sticks together and the vein closes and is destroyed

The VNUS Closure method of treating varicose veins uses energy in the form of radiofrequency waves to heat and destroy the faulty vein in the thigh which is the cause of most varicose veins.  It is performed in much the same way as endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) only with less post-operative pain and bruising.  The results are excellent, with only very minimal post op discomfort and return to work and normal activity in as little as 24 hours.
